Power Shower

A quick pic of a sharp shower out on the bay a couple of days ago...

No twisters as yet this winter. Just as well really, since one came ashore and totally destroyed a taverna, ripped the roof off a house and beheaded a poor unfortunate cow last winter.

Good joke someone told me today. A customer asks for a burger in a Tesco cafeteria. "What would you like on it?" asks the assistant, "Oh, I'll have a tenner each way," replies the customer.

The perpetrator

I was born in Bath UK in the 1950's and married a half-Greek girl many moons ago. We re-located to Rhodes in August 2005. My wife's mother was from Athens and married a British Serviceman whilst still there just after WW2. Following the birth of my sister-in-law, they re-located to the UK in the early 1950s.

I have always been interested in the arts and creativity, which is why I enjoy writing and making music (albeit with dubious results!).

Further down this column you'll find a section entitled "Browse thru older posts...", where you'll find anecdotes and experiences, plus loads of photographs of Rhodes [many taken during wintertime] and other parts of Greece that we've visited over the years.

At the bottom a section with info about other more far-flung Greek islands (with links where possible) that we've visited during the past four decades or so to give the reader ideas as to where else to go to find the real Greece.

Nearby Islands: If you'd like to visit one or more of those islands whilst holidaying on Rhodes, or to use Rhodes as a base from which to "hop" to smaller islands in the area. There's a brief resumé of each island with some helpful links.

Links: A selection of links to loads of other Greek and Rhodean sites. Other stuff too that may interest ageing hippies. Plus some ideas for things to do or places to go in the UK.

Attractions: Tourist attractions here on Rhodes, packed with links to other sites where you can learn more about each of them.
