Arriving at the village of Koronidha, before the bus started its curly descent to Apollonas, there were only 3 passengers left: an old Greek man, a young woman and me. When I told the young lady I was leaving in Koronidha for a walk to Apollonas, she asked if she could join me. So i made the descent in company of Pamela from Canada. That walk is a slow descent on the old path on top of a ridge, so you can see Apollonas in front of you for most of the walk. I showed here were the Kouros was (the reason why she went to Apollonas) and in Apollonas our ways parted (she went swimming and I went eating) till the return bus aarived.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07331391861631687366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754379282583650722.post-50373829294356488802020-02-20T22:19:59.810+02:002020-02-20T22:19:59.810+02:00Coloma Apartments is a very good option too in Pef...Coloma Apartments is a very good option too in Pefkos !<br />https://www.colomaapartments.grAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754379282583650722.post-55061194225021524042019-09-18T19:38:18.209+03:002019-09-18T19:38:18.209+03:00God Bless bro and sis. These lilo things were just beginning to appear when our kids--now in their 50s!--were little, and I could never understand why parents let the kids have them in the sea--as you saw, it is so easy for them to drift off--and this was before the days when so much tat was around, so it wasn't 'cos I was a greenie--just concerned about the safety aspect. The owner of the small apartment block we were staying in invited me, sadly only me, to visit a new Ferry which was moored in Souda bay. I think he had taken a shine to me due to my fluency in taverna Greek after all my Greek lessons during the the daily commute in the car.It was a brand new boat purchased by the Greeks to prevent (I think)the EU opening up their routes to non greek competition. It seemed like the whole island were there as the locals were all shareholders in the ship and owned it. It was an incredible ship and it was some party too. I was the only non-greek there (that I saw) and felt very honoured, wish I could remember what it was called, probably about 30 plus years ago.Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06121541468293903883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8754379282583650722.post-79622279757442043822019-08-13T10:38:06.456+03:002019-08-13T10:38:06.456+03:00Yes, the Prevelis had had one or two re-fits! The hustle and bustle of arriving, the soothing thrum of the engines as you are snoozing in your cabin, the clanging sounds as you dock, the INEVITABLE chaos when someone runs on at the last minute, or a big truck slightly misses the right angle for boarding--all wonderful! The dear old "Prevelis" which lumbers it's way to Crete--seemingly to it's own timetable--brilliant! 37 years--and counting--of sometimes VERY dodgy boats--and still here to tell the tale!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
